Carlos Bono will again be will be joining fellow members of the Lake County Symphony and the Community and Youth Orchestra for its upcoming Mother's Day Pops Concert on Sunday, May 12th that will kick off the Symphony's 2024 Season.
The concert will open with a tribute to the Pokemon video gaming music called Pokemontage performed by the Lake County Community and Youth Orchestra and conducted by Dr. Camm Linden.
The Symphony will then perform a "Salute to the Golden Age of American Popular Music" featuring selections from the “Great American Songbook,” a timeless collection of music from the stage and screen from the 1920s to the 1960s. These popular tunes were written by some of our most celebrated composers-George and Ira Gershwin, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin and Hoagy Carmichael-and made even more memorable by performers like Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, and Billie Holiday. With a full orchestra, guitar and a fantastic percussion section, these selections are always a hit with the audience.
Featured Vocalist, Cynthia Rose, who sang at the recent Christmas Concert, is expected to once again delight audiences on Mother’s Day with her skillful rendition of these familiar and enduring melodies! She will be accompanied by the symphony playing original jazzy orchestral arrangements with Carlos Bono on guitar led by the symphony's talented conductor John Parkinson.
The open dress rehearsal will start at 11am with the formal concert starting at 2pm. Tickets for the main performance are $25 for adults, and the cost is only $5 for the dress rehearsal where those under 18 are admitted free. Tickets are available at the Soper Reese box office and possibly online here: https://soperreesetheatre.com/
